Held the starting spot at 174 pounds all season as a true freshman, posting eight ranked wins and a 12-11 record … had a strong 3-1 showing at the Big 12 Championships, where he beat Iowa State’s No. 19 MJ Gaitan in the third-place match … received the No. 25 seed at his first NCAA Championships … secured his first career win against Lehigh’s Thayne Lawrence two days before majoring No. 17 Tate Picklo in the Bedlam dual for his first bonus points and ranked victory, a three-day stretch that earned him NCAA Wrestler of the Week honors … other key wins included No. 5 Peyton Mocco of Missouri and Oregon State’s No. 13 Matthew Olguin … also had a clutch 3-2 win in tiebreakers over No. 31 Alex Faison in OSU’s upset at NC State … won four of his seven matches that reached overtime.
