2023 NCAA Qualifier at 141 pounds … posted a 14-12 record as a true freshman … reached the blood round, one win shy of All-American status, and scored 3.5 team points at the NCAA Championships … lost his first match at the national tournament before rattling off three-straight wins … upset No. 7 seed Vince Cornella (CORN) to advance on the backside of the bracket … trailing 7-3 late in the match, used a gator roll to pin Cornella with 12 seconds remaining in the match … did not earn an allocation to the NCAA Championships but placed fourth as an unseeded wrestler at the Big 12 Championships to steal an automatic bid to the national tournament … burst onto the college wrestling scene with two top-20 wins on the first weekend of the regular season, defeating both No. 18 Shannon Hanna (CAMP) and No. 11 Joseph Zargo (WIS) … suffered a shoulder injury and missed most of the month of December and struggled upon his return to the lineup … got hot when it mattered and won six of his last nine matches to end the season … four bonus-point wins (one major decision, one tech fall, two pins).
