Moved from 197 pounds to heavyweight for the 2023-24 season … 2024 NCAA Qualifier and Big 12 champion … compiled a 26-2 record, including an undefeated regular season … entered the NCAA Championships as an unbeaten No. 2 seed but fell short of the podium following a last-second quarterfinal defeat to Michigan's No. 10 Lucas Davison and subsequent blood round loss to Rutgers’ Yaraslau Slavikouski … scored 5.5 team points at the NCAA Championships … defeated Air Force’s No. 2 Wyatt Hendrickson, 10-7, for the Big 12 title … started his Big 12 tournament with back-to-back pins, his first falls since the 2021-22 season … 18 of his 26 victories came with bonus points (three falls, nine tech falls, six major decisions) … led the team with 102 takedowns while only allowing six, three of which occurred at the national tournament … registered 14 wins over a ranked opponent, including eight top-10 victories … 4-0 record against top-five opponents … defeated three top-20 foes en route to a Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational title … ISU’s first CKLV individual champion since 2014 … 15-0 dual record … one of two Cyclones to not miss a dual … responsible for 64 dual points.

2022 NCAA Qualifier ... earned All-American honors for the first time with a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships ... finished fifth at 197-pounds at the Big 12 Championship ... one of two 2022 NCAA Qualifiers listed with international hometowns (Ramazan Attasauov) ... compiled a 25-7 overall record, including 13-2 in dual meets ... finished year with five major decisions, five tech falls and three falls ... had 13 wins over top 25 ranked wrestlers, including a win over No. 3 Jacob Warner of Iowa ... finished third at the Warren Williamson Daktronics Open.

2020-21
Posted a 4-4 record during his freshman campaign … began the year as the starting 197-pounder… opened the season 3-0 with a win by major decision and a win by fall … posted three total bonus-point wins on the year (two by pin, one by major decision) … third on the team in dual takedowns (23).

Prior To Iowa State
In 2019, Bastida won the Pan-American Junior Gold Medal at 92 kg. He earned silver medals at both the Junior World Championships and Granma y Cerro Pelado Championship. He competed at the U23 World Championship at 92 kg where he brought home a Bronze Medal for Cuba. Prior to coming to Ames, Bastida took second at the 2020 Granma y Cerro Pelado Championship, falling to US World and Olympic Team member, J’Den Cox, in the finals. Prior to the postponement of the 2020 Olympics, Bastida projected to be one of the finalists for the Cuban representative at 97 kg.
