Emily Hanenberg joined Iowa State in June 2026, serving as a strength and conditioning coach with women’s tennis, women’s golf and women’s swimming & diving teams.
Prior to Iowa State, Hanenberg served as an assistant sports performance coach at Missouri Western State University where she directed the strength and conditioning programs for women’s soccer, women’s basketball, and men’s and women’s golf while assisting with Griffon football. She also previously worked at Fort Lewis College as an Assistant Sports Performance Coach, overseeing performance programs for volleyball, track & field, and cross country, while assisting with football.
Hanenberg began her collegiate coaching career as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Performance Coach at Dallas Baptist University, where she implemented training programs for men’s golf, women’s tennis, men’s track & field, dance, cheer, stunt, and volleyball. During her tenure, the teams she worked with gathered multiple conference championships, national championships, and All-America honors.
The Pueblo, Colorado native earned a bachelor’s degree in clinical exercise science from Pittsburg State University (Kansas) where she also played volleyball. She earned a master’s degree in kinesiology from Dallas Baptist University. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the NSCA and a Level 1 Weightlifting Coach from USA Weightlifting.
