AMES, Iowa - Iowa State quarterback Sage Rosenfels and defensive end Reggie Hayward have both been selected to participate in a pair of post-season collegiate all-star bowl games. Rosenfels and Hayward will both play in the East-West Shrine Game Jan. 13 in Pacific Bell Park in San Francisco, Calif. On Jan. 20, Rosenfels will play in the Senior Bowl in Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala. Hayward will play in the Jan. 20 Hula Bowl in Maui's War Memorial Stadium in Hawaii.
Rosenfels is the first Cyclone to play in the senior bowl since linebacker Dennis Gibson in 1987. Rosenfels and Hayward are the first Iowa Staters to compete in the East-West Shrine Game since tailback Blaise Bryant and placekicker Jeff Shudak in 1991. Hayward is the first Iowa State player to compete in the Hula Bowl since linebacker Derrik Clark in 1998.
