AMES, Iowa - Paced by Stacy Nicks' 15 kills and five blocks, the Iowa State volleyball team won its first match of the season with a 15-9, 15-3, 12-15, 15-4, victory over UNC-Greensboro in the second round of the ISU Heritage Classic in Hilton Coliseum.
Nicks, a senior from Spencer, Iowa, hit an impressive .400 clip from the floor to help the Cyclones to a .235 hitting percentage for the match. Sarah Rollman had the hot hand as well, collecting 12 kills and a team-high 12 digs. Setter Sara Stribe added 30 assists and six digs, as ISU improved to 1-1 on the season.
UNC-Greensboro, who fell to 0-2 with the loss, was limited to a .016 hitting percentage in the match. Becky Moore notched 12 kills and 22 digs to lead the Spartan attack.
