AMES, Iowa - The Idaho volleyball team outhit Iowa State .269-.071 en route to a 15-7, 15-10, 15-5 win Saturday night in the finals of the ISU Heritage Classic in Hilton Coliseum.
IU's Heather Kniss pounded 14 kills for a .444 hitting percentage to help raise the Vandals to 2-1 on the season. She was aided by setter Jenny Neville, who had 39 assists, three kills and eight digs.
The Cyclones, who fall to 1-2 on the season, were paced by Sarah Rollman's 11 kills. Rollman, a sophomore from Norfolk, Neb., earned all-tournament honors for her efforts. Setter Sara Stribe added four kills, 19 dishes and a team-high nine digs to help the Cyclones defensively.
"This tournament was a good test for us to face different competition in order to get ready for the Big 12," ISU head volleyball coach Linda Grensing said. "I saw some chemistry and solidity in today's matches that was missing yesterday, which is a positive step."
The Cyclones travel to Wichita State next weekend to participate in the Wichita State Tournament.
