MOSCOW, Idaho - One of the best young assistant coaches in the nation will get his chance at the next level. Leonard Perry, who was an assistant on Larry Eustachy's Cyclone staff the past three years, has accepted the head men's basketball coaching position at his alma mater Idaho, announced today by the Idaho athletic department.
Perry played two years at Idaho for Kermit Davis' last team and Eustachy's first with the Vandals. Perry then followed Eustachy in his stints at Utah State and Iowa State.
"It's special to be able to come back to Idaho," Perry said. "There are some huge shoes to fill with the long run of coaches who put this program on the map. I have the utmost respect for the coaches who came before me."
Perry was a member of the coaching staff at ISU in two of its greatest seasons in school history. The Cyclones won two regular season Big 12 Conference titles, one Big 12 Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight in Perry's three seasons with the Cyclones.
