Four Iowa State Volleyball Players Named to Academic All-Big 12 First Team

AMES, Iowa - The Big 12 Conference announced Tuesday that four Cyclones were named to the volleyball academic all-Big 12 first team. Lindsey Chapman, Dana Koziol, Renae Pruess and Christine Smeele were four of 50 volleyball student-athletes honored this season.

Koziol and Pruess both earned academic all-conference recognition for the second-straight season. Koziol (Norfolk, Neb.) earned a 3.89 GPA in accounting and finance, while Pruess (Clarence, Iowa) posted a 3.38 GPA in ag systems technology.

Chapman (Bowling Green, Ohio), a junior industrial engineering major with a 3.69 GPA, joined Smeele (Lincolnshire, Ill.), a sophomore with a 3.28 GPA in marketing, as first-time honorees.

Nominated by each school's director of academic services and the media relations offices, the volleyball academic all-league squad consists of 44 members on the first team and six on the second team. First-team members have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second-team members earned at least a 3.0.
