AMES, Iowa (AP) - Jake Sullivan scored 19 points and Iowa State closed the first half with a 27-6 run en route to a 79-59 victory over winless Savannah State on Sunday.
Freshman Adam Haluska, who has scored in double figures in every game, added 13 points and Jared Homan scored 12 as Iowa State (7-1) gave coach Larry Eustachy his 250th victory.
Sluggish at first after winning at Iowa on Friday night, Iowa State fell behind 12-8 and was leading just 17-16 when it got untracked.
First, a 13-2 run took the lead to 30-18. Savannah State (0-6) then got a basket from John Lundy to cut the lead to 10, but the Tigers missed their next nine shots and Iowa State pulled away.
The Cyclones scored 12 straight points to build a 42-20 lead, Sullivan getting the final four points on one possession after a technical foul against Savannah State's Brian Boatwright, who complained about a jump ball that was called as he and Iowa State's Tim Barnes battled for a rebound.
Sullivan made both free throws for the technical, then hit a jumper on the ensuing possession. Iowa State made nine of its last 11 shots in the half and led 44-23 at halftime. Savannah State never made a serious run in the second half.
Carlos Smalls led Savannah State with 19 points, Brian Fisher scored 13 and Boatwright 12. The Tigers made just 9-of-40 shots in the fist half and shot 33 percent for the game.
Jackson Vroman had eight points and 15 rebounds for Iowa State, which outrebounded Savannah State 50-36.
Eustachy, in his fifth season at Iowa State, is 91-46 with the Cyclones and 250-132 overall.
