DALLAS - Iowa State senior center Tyray Pearson and sophomore guard Jake Sullivan picked up more postseason accolades on Tuesday as Pearson was named second-team all-Big 12 and Sullivan earned honorable mention all-Big 12 recognition from The Associated Press.
Pearson averaged a team-best (4th in Big 12) 18.7 ppg this season and was also named to the Big 12's all-improved team. The senior from Hammond, Ind., paced Iowa State with seven double-doubles and led the Cyclones in scoring 18 times in 2001-02. The Big 12 Player of the Week for Jan. 14, Pearson pulled down a team-high 7.9 rpg and shot 50.2 percent from the floor.
Sullivan nailed a team-best 60 three-pointers during the 2001-02 regular season campaign and currently ranks first on ISU's all-time free throw percentage chart (.894) and sixth on the all-time career charts for three pointers made with 121. Sullivan led the Big 12 with a 47.6 percent clip from three-point range, a percentage that ranked fifth nationally, and was also named to the Big 12's all-underrated team. The 2001 Big 12 Freshman of the Year has also earned academic all-district and all-Big 12 honors.
