Curtis Stinson a First-Team Preseason All-Big 12 Honoree by League Media

DALLAS - Iowa State sophomore guard Curtis Stinson made it a clean sweep, earning preseason first-team all-Big 12 honors by the Big 12 media, announced today by the Big 12 headquarters. Stinson earned the same honor by the Big 12 coaches last week. Stinson is joined on the first team by Keith Langford (Kansas), Wayne Simien (Kansas), Joey Graham (Oklahoma State) and John Lucas (Oklahoma State). He is the first Cyclone to receive first-team preseason Big 12 accolades since Jamaal Tinsley in 2000. He is one of seven sophomores in Big 12 history to make a preseason first-team all-league team.
Stinson, a native of Bronx, N.Y., averaged 16.2 ppg in his freshman year in 2003-04, breaking the conference freshman scoring record en route to Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors. Stinson is considered one of the top returning players in the nation, making the preseason Wooden Award All-America top-50 watch list.
The Cyclones, picked to finish sixth in the conference in both the Big 12 preseason media and coaches poll, begin their exhibition season on Nov. 9 vs. Bemidji State.
