IOWA STATE POSTGAME NOTES
·Todd Miller's 36-yard punt return in the first quarter is a season-long for ISU. The previous long was 25 by Terrance Highsmith at Colorado.
·Iowa State's 16-play scoring drive in the second quarter ties for the most plays in a scoring drive this season (16-72, vs. Texas A&M).
·Todd Blythe's six-yard reverse in the second quarter is the first carry of his career.
·Tim Dobbins' blocked PAT in the third quarter is ISU's ninth blocked kick of the season, and fourth blocked PAT (Nick Leaders vs. Nebraska, James Wright vs. Northern Illinois, Nik Moser at Kansas State).
·Bret Meyer is the first ISU quarterback with 100 yards rushing in a game since Seneca Wallace in 2002 (Nov. 16 at Colorado, 15-102-1).
·Meyer is ISU's first 100-yard rusher in a bowl game since Ennis Haywood vs. Alabama in the 2001 Independence Bowl (20-125-0), and the fourth-ever in postseason play (Dexter Green, 1977 Peach Bowl and 1978 Hall of Fame Bowl). Stevie Hicks is the fifth.
·Meyer set new career highs in carries (23) and yardage (122). His previous bests were 20 carries and 61 yards, against Missouri.
·Ryan Kock's fourth-quarter touchdown is the first of his career, and the second by an ISU fullback this year (Tony Johnson vs. Northern Iowa).
·Stevie Hicks became the eighth 1,000-yard rusher in Dan McCarney's tenure at ISU, and first since 2001. Hicks finished with 1,062 yards this season.
·This is the first game that ISU has had multiple 100-yard rushers since Nov. 18, 2000 vs. Kansas (Ennis Haywood 29-190-1, Michael Wagner 8-102-1).
·Hicks' 41-yard fourth-quarter run is a team season-long, his career long, and gave him a new career high for a game (159). Hicks had five 100-yard games this season, and has six in his career.
·Ellis Hobbs' 41-yard interception return in the fourth quarter was his fifth pick of the season, for a total of 117 yards. Hobbs is the first Cyclone with five interceptions in a season since Barry Hill had nine picks in 1974 (which was a Big Eight record and ranked second nationally).
·ISU's 295 rushing yards are a season-high, and the most since rushing for 308 yards at Ohio on Sept. 22, 2001.
·ISU is now 19-2 all-time against teams from the Mid-American Conference, and is 2-6 all-time in bowl games (2-2 under Dan McCarney).
·The 60 rushing yards allowed are the fewest since Sept. 4, when Northern Iowa had only 36 yards on 32 carries.
·ISU's 87 offensive plays are the most this season (85 vs. Texas A&M).
·Game Offensive MVP: Bret Meyer; Game Defensive MVP: Nik Moser
