AMES, Iowa (AP) - Curtis Stinson scored 19 points to lead four Iowa State players in double figures as the Cyclones beat Tennessee State 67-61 Friday night.
Jared Homan scored 17 points, Will Blalock 15 and Anthony Davis 10 for Iowa State (8-2). Homan also had 11 rebounds and blocked two shots, to make him the Cyclones' all-time shot block leader with 191, two more than Kelvin Cato's previous record set in 1997.
Wayne Arnold led Tennessee State with 15 points, Kareem Grant had 14 and Bruce Price had 13 for the Tigers (5-8).
Iowa State shot 51.0 percent from the field, but was outrebounded by the Tigers and also committed more turnovers. Tennessee State also made 10 3-point shots, which helped the Tigers stay close.
The Cyclones led 38-33 at halftime, but Tennessee State scored the first nine points of the second half to take a 42-38 lead.
Iowa State then went on a 20-6 run to regain the lead at 58-48 with 8 minutes, 18 seconds remaining. Blalock scored seven points and dished out three assists in that Cyclone surge.
The Tigers clawed their way back into the game and pulled to within 64-61 after Price hit two free throws with 37.9 seconds left.
After Homan sank one of two free throws to give Iowa State a 65-61 advantage, Damion Staple stole the ball from Arnold and threw the ball ahead to Stinson, whose layup with 3 seconds left sealed the Iowa State victory.
The Tigers lost their leading scorer and rebounder, forward Rod Flowers, to an ankle injury in the first half. He came into the game averaging 16.8 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
