AMES, Iowa - Iowa State freshman guard Curtis Stinson was named Big 12's Freshman of the Year by the Kansas City Star. The Bronx, N.Y., native was also a second-team all-Big 12 selection by the publication.
Stinson currently leads the Cyclones in scoring (15.4), assists (118) and steals (45). His 15.4 scoring average, which leads all Big 12 freshman and ranks 6th nationally for rookies, is on pace to become the highest clip for an ISU freshman in school history. He has been named Big 12 Rookie of the Week three times this season.
