INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Todd Blythe caught three touchdown passes today. This is the most touchdown receptions in one game since Damian Groce snared three touchdown passes against Texas Tech on Sept. 26, 1998.
Todd Blythe has recorded a touchdown reception in every game he has played in his college career. He has five touchdowns in three games.
Nik Moser picked off his first interception today. He returned it for a 30-yard touchdown just 39 seconds into the game.
Nik Moser became the first Cyclone to tally a defensive touchdown sinceJaMaine Billups returned an Oklahoma pass, 77 yards for a touchdown on Oct. 4, 2003. Nik Moser became the first Cyclone to intercept two passes in a game since Marc Timmons picked off two Missouri passes in a 37-20 victory over Missouri on Oct. 28, 2000.
Today's successful two-point conversion pass from Austin Flynn to James Wright is the first attempt 2-pt. attempt since Flynn successfully ran in a two-point conversion in the Oct. 18, 2003, game against Texas.
TEAM NOTES
Iowa State scored two defensive touchdowns in a game for the first time since Nov. 2, 1996, a 34-31 loss to Kansas on a fridged afternoon in Ames. ISU defensive back Tracy Williams had a 21-yard fumble return for a score and cornerback Dawan Anderson had a 29-yard interception return.
Iowa State scored 20 points off of four Northern Illinois turnovers plus a blocked punt that was scored for a touchdown.
Today's 48 points against Northern Illinois is the most points Iowa State has scored in a game since scoring 48 points in a 48-20 over Ohio on Sept. 6, 2003.
Today's combined 89 points by both teams is the most combined points ever in an Iowa State non-conference game. The previous mark of 87 combined points occured on Sept. 23, 1995, in a 57-30 Iowa State victory over UNLV AND an 87-0 ISU win over Simpson in 1904.
Today's four interceptions are the most by a Cyclone defense since the Cyclones picked off five Kansas passes in a 49-7 victory on Nov. 17, 2001.
Iowa State allowed 117 rushing yards today. The Cyclone defense has allowed 238 rushing yards this season. This is the fewest rushing yards allowed through three games since the 1982 Cyclones allowed 210 rushing yards through its first three games.
Iowa State has started 2-1 or better every season since 1997.
This is the first time Iowa State has ever won a game when allowing 40 points or more.
