For the second consecutive game, running back Stevie Hicks gained over 100 rushing yards. He gained 123 rushing yards (28 carries) against Missouri in the 2003 season finale (Nov. 29). Today, on 23 carries he gained 111 rushing yards. He is the first Iowa State runningback to top 100 yards rushing in consecutive games since Mike Wagner tallied 107 yards against Nebraska on Sept. 28. 2002 and then rushed for 102 yards against Texas Tech on Oct. 12, 2002.
Redshirt freshman wide receiver Todd Blythe caught a 23-yard touchdown pass on his first collegiate reception.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Bret Meyer's 15 pass completions in his starting debut is the most since Bob Utter tossed 20 completions in his starting debut against Iowa in 1990.
Bret Meyer's 139 yards passing in a starting debut is the third-highest yards passing total since 1990. Bob Utter had 235 passing yards in his debut against Iowa in 1990. Teammate Austin Flynn is second with 158 yards passing in last year's 17-10 victory over UNI in his debut.
