Iowa State-Colorado Quotes
ISU Head Coach Dan McCarney
"This was a great team victory--as good a victory as we've had all year. We've had four wins in a row since we started our new season. This game was for our 20 seniors to finish in style and finish as winners. We had some outstanding plays. Steve Paris and Brent Curvey turned the momentum in the game. Troy Blankenship was great as a punter today."
On the weather:
"The wind was unbelievable, but there was no rain and it wasn't too cold. The weather was a big, big factor in the game, but it was Cyclone weather. We told our players not to flinch. Handle the distraction. We'll keep everyone informed. Thank God everything went okay, and it worked out great."
On the crowd:
"Phenomenal crowd. When you have earphones on and you can still hear the people you know it's good."
Iowa State's Brent Curvey
On the interception:
"I was by myself and he threw it right to me. I was very winded after the run. I was trying to make sure I kept the ball in my hands."
On their defense:
"We knew we had to step up to get win the game."
Iowa State's Bret Meyer
On Curvey's Catch
"We are kind of used to it by now after the Baylor game last year. We need to get Nick Leaders to get a touchdown after we teach him how to catch the ball."
On the weather:
"The wind was a factor and we obviously scored more when we had the wind on our side."
On the fans
"Our fans were great, kind of like the Iowa game."
Colorado Quotes
Colorado Head Coach Gary Barnett
"Its no secret, turnovers were the key. They [Iowa State] had good defense. We gave them two turnovers and they scored off them."
"We knew the difference would be in turnovers and whoever won that would win the game. Credit to them [Iowa State], they made great plays."
"We didn't feel out of control, we just never had control. We couldn't throw the ball in the wind. It was a missed opportunity."
Colorado's Mason Crosby
On the wind:
"The wind was tough, but it did die down in the second half. It really made the ball move on the kicks. This loss will hurt tonight, but we will get back on track."
On the Delay at the start of the game: "I don't think it hurt too much. We all got it in our heads that the wind would be a factor. I just took off my pads and tried to redo everything and started my preparation over."
"I told Lawrence to not worry after the fumble. We still control our own destiny. We just have to take care of business vs. Nebraska."
Colorado's Jordan Dizon
On mood in locker room...
"Well, I think everyone recognizes what just happened to us. We know how detrimental this was to our season and to our record. Some guys are letting it roll off their backs and some are just thinking about things. Its pretty tense in there."
On moving on after this loss...
"The good thing is we have a lot of veterans. As a team we have good poise and a sense of urgency for the next game. As soon as we get to practice and start looking at film on Nebraska, we'll forget."
On holding ISU's Stevie Hicks to 27 yards...
"The D-line did a great job. ISU was great the last three weeks because of Hicks, he's the prize of their offense - take him away and they have to throw the ball. They did that well tonight."
On the delay...
"I'm not sure if it effected us. I know a lot of guys were hyped and ready to go. When you're that pumped and then you're told you have to sit for another 30 minutes - yeah, I guess that did have some effect. I don't if the energy got back to where it was."
