DALLAS - Brent Curvey (Iowa State), Mike Hamilton (Oklahoma State) and Aaron Ross (Texas) have been named SBC Big 12 Conference Football Players of the Week as selected by a media panel. Ross receives Special Teams honors for the second time this season and his career. Hamilton (Offense) and Curvey (Defensive) are recognized for the first time.
Defensive Player of the Week
Brent Curvey, Jr, DT, Iowa State (Houston, Texas)
Defensive tackle Brent Curvey returned an interception 66 yards for a touchdown with 1:31 remaining as Iowa State upended No. 21 Colorado 30-16. Curvey also registered five tackles, including two for loss and a sack, as the Cyclones remain in the hunt for the Big 12 North Division title.
Offensive Player of the Week
Mike Hamilton, Fr, TB, Oklahoma State (Melbourne, Fla.)
Mike Hamilton ran for 161 yards and a touchdown in Oklahoma State's 24-17 win over 13th-ranked Texas Tech. It was the second straight 100-yard rushing game for the freshman tailback. Hamilton scored the game's first points on an83-yard, first quarter, touchdown run. He ranks as OSU's single-season freshman rushing leader with 868 yards, breaking Jamaal Fobbs's record of 846 established in 1997.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Aaron Ross, Jr, PR-CB, Texas (Tyler, Texas)
Aaron Ross went 71 yards for a score on a punt return in Texas' 66-14 win over Kansas. It was his second punt return for a touchdown this season, tying the UT single-season record. For the game, Ross averaged 26.3 yards on three returns.
