AMES, Iowa - Iowa State senior center Jared Homan raised his stock for the NBA with an impressive showing at the Portsmouth Invitational last weekend, earning all-tournament honors at the pre-draft camp for seniors.
The Remsen, Iowa, native averaged 16.3 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and shot 57.5 percent from the field in his three games in the tournament, helping his team make the championship game. Homan, who played for Holiday Inn Portsmouth, scored 11 points and grabbed nine boards in a 101-91 loss to Portsmouth Sports Club in the championship game. Chuck Hayes, who played at Kentucky, was named MVP of the three-day event.
