AMES, Iowa - Iowa State nose guard Nick Leaders and wide receiver Todd Blythe have been named to the Lombardi Award and the Biletnikoff Award Watch Lists, respectively. The Lombardi Award recognizes the finest lineman in college football. Fifty-eight offensive players and 63 defensive players are on the watch list. Blythe is among 31 student-athletes on the Biletnikoff Watch List. The award honors the nation's finest collegiate wide receiver.
Leaders earned second-team all-conference honors last season from the Big 12 coaches. The Omaha, Neb., native has made 221 career tackles and has started in the middle of the Iowa State defensive line since the first game of his freshman season in 2002. The senior blocked two field goal attempts last season.
Blythe, a first-team all-conference honoree by The Dallas Morning News last season, caught 39 passes for 833 yards and a school record nine touchdowns in 2004. He was named a second-team freshman All-American by The Sporting News.
