BOULDER, Colo. - Iowa State used a balanced scoring attack to earn its second Big 12 Conference road win at Colorado Saturday night. The Cyclones, now 12-4 overall and 3-2 in the league, had six players score in double figures and committed just four turnovers in the 86-71 win.
"Offensively, we were as good as we could possibly be," ISU head coach Bill Fennelly said. "The only thing I was disappointed in was that we missed a lot of layups."
Iowa State shot a sizzling 56.7 percent in the first half to take a 44-34 lead into the locker room at the break. Freshman Nicky Wieben came off the bench to score 14 first-half points for ISU on 5-of-5 shooting. Cyclone sophomore Lisa Bildeaux, in her first collegiate start, put ISU on the scoreboard first. After trading baskets, Iowa State built up a six-point lead, but Colorado battled back to take a 12-11 lead with 12:32 left on a Caley Dow layup. The Cyclones got back-to-back 3-pointers from freshman Heather Ezell and Ronhovde to regain the lead and never looked back.
The second half wasn't as offensively efficient for Iowa State, but the Cyclones had just two turnovers and outrebounded their first league opponent (42-35) to hold off any Colorado comeback. The Buffaloes narrowed the gap to nine twice midway through the second half, but 3-pointers from senior Brittany Wilkins and Ronhovde kept ISU's lead in double digits.

Wieben had 17 points from the bench, while junior Lyndsey Medders had 15 points and 14 assists. It was the sixth game in which Medders has recorded double-digit assists this season and the seventh double-double of her career.
Ronhovde notched her fourth double-double of the season and the seventh of her career with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Ezell had 11 points, while Bildeaux rounded out ISU's double-digit scoring with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Iowa State hit 46.5 percent from the floor, while Colorado sank 41 percent. Whitney Law had 21 points for the Buffs, while Jackie McFarland posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
