Iowa State meets Southern for the seventh time in the last 11 seasons on Wednesday night, all seven of which will have been played in Ames. The Cyclones have take all six of the previous contests from the Jaguars by an average margin of victory of 30.6 points.
LAST TIME OUT
No. 14 Iowa State won its 31st straight season opener, the longest active streak in NCAA women's basketball, with an 85-36 victory over St. Thomas. Head coach Bill Fennelly has led the Cyclones to all 31 wins in the streak. Audi Crooks led ISU with 20 points, the 68th consecutive game she has scored in double figures and 42nd time in her career she has finished with 20-plus points. Addy Brown had a well-rounded performance with 11 points, six rebounds and six assists to start her junior year campaign. Jada Williams made her first start for Iowa State, passing out four assists and adding nine points as ISU's starting point guard. All 13 Cyclones saw action and 12 scored in the 49-point win over St. Thomas.
CYCLONES GARNER PRESEASON ATTENTION
Iowa State's trio of Addy Brown, Audi Crooks and Jada Williams have each received attention in the preseason, appearing on several watch lists and collection preseason recognition. Brown and Crooks were voted to the All-Big 12 Preseason Team and appeared on the Naismith Trophy Preseason watch list. When the Naismith Starting 5 award watch lists were announced, Williams (Nancy Lieberman Award), Brown (Katrina McClain Award) and Crooks (Lisa Leslie Award) were all three selected to their respective position 20-woman watch lists.
