AMES, Iowa - Following the momentum of its first win at Colorado since 1987, Iowa State will take to the road again for a contest at Texas Tech on Saturday. The Cyclones, who boast one of the league's top defensive units, will face a Red Raider squad that is 2-2 in their last four matches after opening Big 12 play with four straight losses.

Scouting Texas Tech
Texas Tech lost to No. 24 Oklahoma, 3-2, on Wednesday night despite opening up a 2-0 lead to start the match. The Red Raiders out hit Oklahoma, .172 to .148, and out blocked the Sooners, 14 to 11. Last year's Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, Philister Sang, again led Texas Tech with 26 kills. Emily Ziegler had 19 digs for the Red Raiders, who have Big 12 wins over Kansas and Texas A&M.
As a team, Texas Tech ranks last in the league with a .202 hitting percentage while Iowa State is second in opponent hitting percentage (.143). The Red Raiders are first in the league in service aces, averaging 1.93 per game.

Texas Tech leads the all-time series 19-4, despite a season sweep by Iowa State last season. The Cyclones are 3-8 all-time in Lubbock.

The Cyclones picked up their third Big 12 road win of the season and fourth overall with an impressive 3-0 (30-20, 30-25, 30-27) win at Colorado on Wednesday night. The win, Iowa State's first in Boulder since 1987, was highlighted by 14 kills from Katie Jessen, who became just the sixth Cyclone to reach 1,000 career kills. ISU hit .348 as a team while holding CU to a .188 hitting percentage. Nicole Lorenzen had 12 kills and no errors on 33 attempts (.364) while Lauren Cummings chipped in 10 kills in the win. Katie Churm had a match-high 11 digs while Jessen also added 10 digs to record her seventh double-double of the 2006 campaign.
