Chasing Another Record Saturday Night

AMES, Iowa ? Steady ticket sales all week has positioned Iowa State to make a run at its single-game attendance record at Jack Trice Stadium for the second week in a row.

As of Friday morning, the Cyclones had 54,359 tickets off the system for Saturday night's Big 12 home opener against Nebraska. That attendance would rank as the fifth-largest in stadium history and just 117 tickets shy of second place.

The record was set one week ago when 55,518 fans watched Iowa State defeat Northern Iowa, 28-27.

“We had a great walk-up last week in concert with superb pre-game sales,” Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said. “That is the same script this week. We are simply thrilled with the incredible support for the football program, especially these last two weeks.”

The Cyclones have already assured themselves of the largest back-to-back crowds in Jack Trice Stadium history.

Last week's crowd against UNI plus the pre-game sale for Nebraska totals 109,877 fans. The old mark for largest gatherings in consecutive home games was 105,916 when ISU played Oklahoma (52,974) and Nebraska (52,942) in a four-week stretch of the 1980 season.
