Erin Boeve Named All-Big 12 First Team

AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State's Erin Boeve was named first team All-Big 12 and Co-Defensive Player of the Year. The honor, which is voted on by the league's coaches, makes Boeve the first Cyclone to earn Big 12 first team honors and earn an individual Big 12 honor as well.

Boeve, a junior middle blocker, was a honorable mention pick last season. She was a preseason All-Big 12 selection this year and earned the second Big 12 Player of the Week (Oct. 2) honor of her career. That same week she became the first Cyclone to be named Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week.

Boeve led the Big 12 in blocks, averaging 1.61 per game, including a dominant 13-block (two solo, 11 block assists) performance against Colorado in the season finale. She also had 17 kills in the 3-2 win over the Buffaloes, as Iowa State secured its first NCAA Championship appearance since 1995. She has a school-record 363 career block assists, with the record breaking stuff coming in the second game against the Buffs.

The Steen, Minn., native, is hitting a career-high .296 this season. She is averaging 3.18 kills and has also posted a career-high 27 service aces and 25 solo blocks. She has 154 block assists on the season, one behind the single-season school-record, which she set during her sophomore campaign.

She was also named to the Hawkeye Challenge all-tournament team.
