Loprinzi Shines for the Cyclones

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State women's tennis team fell to No. 43 Colorado Friday evening. Capturing the lone singles win was sophomore Caitlin Loprinzi. Loprinzi took to the courts for the first time in over a year and defeated Colorado's Gleisy Torres Torres, 6-3, 6-1. Colorado went on to the win the rest of the singles and doubles matches to defeat the Cyclones 6-1.

At No. 1 singles ISU junior Jill Palen battled a tough match against Jessica Vanderdys. Palen came from behind in the first set to win 6-4 and then battled the second set to a 7-6 (7-3) loss in the tiebreaker and then played a second tiebreaker to 1-0 (10-1) loss.

Palen partnered up with redshirt junior Eve Soriano in No. 1 doubles for the Cyclones. The duo defeated Colorado's Jessica Vanderdys and Gleisy Torres Torres, 8-2.

Up next for the Cyclones is a three-match road trip in Honolulu, Hawaii. On Sunday they face Hawaii at 2 p.m., are set to battle Wyoming on Monday time to be annouced and finish off the week Thursday against Washington State at 2 p.m.
