AMES, Iowa - Corey McIntosh, the 2006 California Junior College Player of the Year who led his team to a perfect 37-0 record last season, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Iowa State next season, ISU head coach Greg McDermott announced today.
"Corey provides point guard experience and a winning mentality," McDermott said. "We like the fact that Corey knows how to win and does it in a way that involves all of his teammates. He provides point guard skills along with the ability to make open shots.
McIntosh (5-11, 175, G, Jr., West Covina, Calif.) was the point guard for the best team in the California Junior College system last year, helping his Fullerton College squad go undefeated (37-0) en route to the California Junior College national championship. McIntosh averaged 14.5 points, 4.5 assists and made 46.2 percent (36-78 3FG) from 3-point range last season.
McIntosh, who will have two seasons of eligibility, and Wesley Johnson are two of the latest recruits ISU has signed for next year. In all, the Cyclones will welcome six newcomers to the squad for the Fall of 2006.
