AMES, Iowa - A spectacular new score and video board, along with a facsia display, are among the coming attractions for Hilton Coliseum as part of an agreement between Iowa State University and Daktronics, Inc.
Daktronics will manufacture and install an integrated scoring, video and advertising display system for Hilton Coliseum, which will be operational this season. Daktronics installed an integrated football scoring and video display system at Jack Trice Stadium in 2002.
"Partnering with a nationally renowned score and video board provider like Daktronics will elevate the `Hilton Magic' experience to levels never previously reached," Iowa State University Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said. "Creating a spectacular and memorable game-day environment for our fans is a top priority. The flexibility of these displays is remarkable and the resolution will be the best in intercollegiate athletics. Cyclone Nation is in for a treat!"
The system includes a center-hung score and video display measuring approximately 28 x 21 feet, featuring Daktronics' ProStar? VideoPlus technology and ProAd? digital displays. The video boards have the capability to showcase game information, statistics, amazing graphics, colorful animation and spectacular video images. A 360 degree ProAd? fascia display, one of just a few in college athletics, will circle the inside of the arena (two feet high and 792 feet long).
The existing marquee display outside Hilton Coliseum will be upgraded with a Galaxy? LED display, capable of displaying text, graphics and animation. These displays offer exceptional readability, even in direct sunlight and are a great way to attract and inform patrons of upcoming events.
"This completely integrated system that Iowa State University is installing will be among the most advanced in all of collegiate sports and will set the standard from which all other systems are measured," said Tony Mulder, Regional Sales Manager for Daktronics. "With the use of its eight wide-screen video displays and 360 degree fascia display, Iowa State fans, student-athletes and coaches will be able to experience the game on a new level."
