AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State volleyball team looks to continue its winning ways when it travels to the UC Irvine tournament this weekend in Irvine, Calif. The Cyclones enter the tournament at 4-0 after defeating intrastate rival, Northern Iowa, on Wednesday night in their home opener. ISU will face UC Irvine, Michigan and No. 20 San Diego in the tournament.

Last Time Out
> The Cyclones held Northern Iowa to a .072 hitting percentage and took advantage of 22 kills and 15 digs from Katie Jessen to defeat the Panthers , 3-1 (30-19, 28-30, 30-23, 30-23). Erin Boeve had 14 kills and Katie Churm added a match-high 26 digs to help ISU past UNI for the second straight year.
Scouting UC Irvine
> UC Irvine enters the tournament with a 0-2 record and will face San Diego to open the tournament on Thursday evening. The Anteaters were swept by Oregon and Portland State to open the season. McCall Miller leads the way with 19 kills and a 3.17 average. Junior Kristin Kelley is putting the ball away at a .394 clip to lead the team. UC Irvine defeated the Cyclones in the series' lone meeting, a 3-1 win in 1984.
> The Wolverines are 4-0 entering the tournament after taking the title at the Toledo Invitational. Michigan defeated Western Kentucky, Binghamton, Wright State and Toledo and junior Stesha Selsky was named Big 10 Defensive Player of the Week after going over the 1,000 dig plateau for her career. Michigan leads the all-time series 3-2.
> No. 20 San Diego dropped their first contest of the year Wednesday night with a 3-0 loss at the hands of No. 1 Nebraska. Kristen Carlson led the way with 13 kills but also had 13 errors in the contest. Kayleen Webster had 15 digs in the loss. The meeting will be the first between the Toreros and Cyclones.

> Iowa State senior libero Katie Churm will be playing in her hometown for the first time in her career. Churm attended Northwood High School in Irvine prior to signing to play with the Cyclones. Churm ranks seventh all-time at ISU with 1,071 career digs
