AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State University's single-game football attendance record could be surpassed Saturday night.
When the Cyclones and Northern Iowa tee it up Saturday (Sept. 30) at 6 p.m., it could be in front of a Jack Trice Stadium record house.
“Our walk-up sales have been significant at our opening two home games this fall,” Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said. “Combining our sales to date for UNI with a stellar walk-up, we're positioned to make a run at the all-time single-game record. We'll have one of the largest turnouts in Jack Trice history for sure and the question becomes ?can we break the record?'”
An Iowa State vs. Nebraska match-up in 1990 attracted 54,475 fans, which is the facility record at Jack Trice.
Sales for the UNI game to date are 52,555. The Northern Iowa game, historically, has been a large walk-up crowd. An average of more than 4,200 day-of-game tickets have been sold the last three times the Cyclones and Panthers played one another.
Hillside tickets ? which cost $20 for adults and $10 for youth ? are available for Saturday evening's game by calling 888-478-2925, or 515-294-1816, or by visiting the Ticket Office (1800 South Fourth Street in Ames) or online at www.cyclones.com.
“This is an in-state rivalry game, under the lights with a chance to set a record,” Pollard said. “That's a good mixture to entice Cyclone fans to make a last-minute decision and join in the festivities.”
Fans are encouraged to arrive early and take their time in getting to their stadium locations in light of the expected large crowd.
