Scouting Kansas Kansas has dropped two straight after Wednesday evenings 3-1 loss at Texas Tech. The Red Raiders were able to hold Kansas to a .156 hitting percentage, well below the Jayhawks season average of .238. KU is led by senior outside hitter Jana Correa, who ranks eighth in the Big 12 with 4.06 kills. Correa had 21 kills and 15 digs in the loss to Texas Tech. The Cyclones defeated KU twice last season and hold a 34-33-1 edge in the all-time series.
Last Time Out ISU snapped a 20-match losing streak against Kansas State Wednesday with a come-from-behind 3-2 road win. The Cyclones trailed 2-1 in the match and 19-12 in the fourth game before Erin Boeve and Katie Jessen took over. Boeve finished with 22 kills, two solo blocks and 10 block assists as the Cyclones won their first match against the Wildcats since the inception of the Big 12. Jessen had her 18th career double-double, ripping 14 kills and 15 digs. Freshman setter Kaylee Manns had 65 assists and a match-high 21 digs.
1,000 Kill Watch ISU senior outside hitter Katie Jessen is closing in on the historical 1,000-kill club. Jessen has 959 career kills and is looking to become the sixth ISU player to reach the mark. Kirstin Hugdahl and Steph McCannon both reached the mark in 1994.
Pleasant Surprise Ankeny native Lauren Cummings transferred into Iowa State from Northwest Missouri State and has assumed the starting right side hitter position. Cummings is leading the team with a .404 hitting percentage. The Iowa State record for hitting percentage in a season is .319 by Diane Doles in 1982.
