AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State volleyball team will host the Cyclone Classic this weekend at Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones enter the tournament at 6-2 after sweeping UMKC on Wednesday night. ISU will face Valparaiso on Friday and SDSU on Saturday.

Last Time Out
The Cyclones defeated UMKC, 3-0 (30-9, 30-19, 30-21), on Wednesday night at Hilton Coliseum. Besides Jen Malcom, who is redshirting this season, every Cyclone saw action in the match. Freshman Diane Kieger had 10 kills on 13 attempts for a hitting percentage of .692, good for the fifth best match all-time at ISU. Mary Bisenius also chipped in 10 kills and Katie Churm had 11 digs. The Cyclones, who out blocked the Kangaroos 11 to three, have now out blocked seven of eight opponents this season.
Scouting Valparaiso
Valparaiso enters this weekend's tournament at 4-3 following a 3-2 (27-30, 30-28, 32-30, 22-30, 15-9) win over Idaho. The win ended a season-long three match losing streak, that included losses to No. 6 Santa Clara, No. 21 Notre Dame and No. 13 Missouri. The Crusaders are led by freshman Angie Porch?'s 3.39 kills per game. Brittany Marks is leading the defense with 5.04 digs. Iowa State is 3-0 all-time against the Crusaders.
Scouting South Dakota State
SDSU sits at 5-2 entering Friday's match at Drake. The Jackrabbits fell to No. 9 Wisconsin and Oklahoma last weekend while picking up a win against Oregon State. The win over the Beavers was their second over a foe from the Pac-10 (def. Washington State, 3-1) this season. Senior OH Minette Ridenour is averaging 3.89 kills and 3.79 digs to lead the way for SDSU. Iowa State holds a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series, including a 3-1 win last season in the same tournament.
What a Crowd!!!!
An announced attendance of 2,225 at Iowa State's season opening win over intrastate rival Northern Iowa was the biggest home crowd for the Cyclones since Oct. 7, 1995 when 4,228 fans watched the Cyclones faced top-ranked Nebraska at Hilton Coliseum.
