ISU Hosts Texas Tech In Big 12 Contest

AMES, Iowa - Coming off its second Big 12 bye week of the season, Iowa State looks to continue its winning ways as it hosts Texas Tech on Wednesday evening at Hilton Coliseum. First serve between the Cyclones, the Big 12's top blocking team at 3.34 per game, and Red Raiders will be at 6:30 p.m.

- The Cyclones took a 3-2 (24-30, 30-24, 25-30, 30-19, 15-13) win against Colorado last Wednesday, snapping a season-long three-match losing streak.
- Erin Boeve had 19 kills, two solo blocks and 11 block assists to lead the Cyclones against the Buffs. Lauren Cummings added 16 kills while Jen Malcom chipped in a career-high 15 for ISU, which improved to 11-2 when holding opponents to a hitting percentage below .200.
- Iowa State was ranked 31st in the last RPI standings (Oct. 12) as announced by the NCAA. The ranking is the highest in school history.
- The Cyclones are 4-1 following a bye in Big 12 under the direction of Christy Johnson. The lone loss came in 2005 when ISU fell to No. 11 Texas after its second bye.
- The Cyclones are 3-3 at Hilton Coliseum this season, including 3-1 in league play. ISU has hit just .187 at home but is out blocking visitors, 3.57 to 2.84.
- Erin Boeve has recorded 63 double-figure kill matches in her career, which ranks fourth all-time at ISU. With three more, Boeve will pass Katie Jessen (2003-06), who had 65 in her career.
- Boeve's fellow senior Laura Cady has posted 41 double-figure dig matches and needs just three to move into ninth all-time on that list.
- As a team, ISU is averaging 18.43 digs in Big 12 matches, which ranks first in the league. Missouri is second with 16.06 digs. The Cyclones are bidding to become the first team since Texas A&M in 2000 and 2001 to lead the league in back-to-back seasons.
- Iowa State is also on its way to leading the league in blocks (all matches) for the second straight year. The Cyclones are averaging 3.34 blocks per game, well ahead of Texas' 3.12 blocks per game. ISU led the league last year, knocking off Nebraska, which had led the conference in blocks every season since 1998.

- Iowa State grabbed a 3-1 (30-15, 30-25, 28-30, 30-17) win in Lubbock behind a stellar performance from middle blocker Erin Boeve.
Boeve narrowly missed a triple-double with 17 kills, nine digs and eight block assists while Ashley Mass had 23 digs for ISU in the win. It was the Cyclones' ninth win in 10 matches after starting the season 1-4.

Sophomore Kaylee Manns needs just 25 more assists to move into a tie for seventh all-time at Iowa State with Missy Roberts (1984-87). Roberts finished her career with 2,230.
Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week
- Freshman libero Ashley Mass became the first Cyclone in school history to earn Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 17) honors after averaging 5.50 digs per game in wins over Baylor and Texas A&M. The Muskego, Wis., native had 17 digs and three service aces against the Bears and ended the week with 16 digs in a ISU's first-ever sweep of the Aggies.
