A Closer Look At Texas Tech (7-13, 1-10 Big 12)
- Texas Tech has dropped its last 10 matches after beating Colorado in its Big 12 opener.
- The Red Raiders, who have been swept in their last four matches, fell to Texas A&M, 3-0 (21-30, 25-30, 14-30), on Saturday in Lubbock.
- Against the Aggies, Michelle Flores paced the offensive attack with 10 kills for Tech, which hit just .123 as a team. Libero Jenn Harrell had a match-high 15 digs in the loss.
- The Red Raiders rank in the bottom three in each statistical category. They rank ninth in blocks at 2.19, ahead of Colorado and Oklahoma.
- Harrell ranks sixth in the conference with 3.93 digs per game.
- Texas Tech leads the all-time series 20-6, despite Iowa State having won four of the last five contests in the series. In Ames, Tech leads 10-2 with ISU having picked up the two wins in the last two meetings.
Last Time They Met (9/29/07)
- Iowa State grabbed a 3-1 (30-15, 30-25, 28-30, 30-17) win in Lubbock behind a stellar performance from middle blocker Erin Boeve.
Boeve narrowly missed a triple-double with 17 kills, nine digs and eight block assists while Ashley Mass had 23 digs for ISU in the win. It was the Cyclones' ninth win in 10 matches after starting the season 1-4.
Stat of the Week
Sophomore Kaylee Manns needs just 25 more assists to move into a tie for seventh all-time at Iowa State with Missy Roberts (1984-87). Roberts finished her career with 2,230.
Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week
- Freshman libero Ashley Mass became the first Cyclone in school history to earn Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 17) honors after averaging 5.50 digs per game in wins over Baylor and Texas A&M. The Muskego, Wis., native had 17 digs and three service aces against the Bears and ended the week with 16 digs in a ISU's first-ever sweep of the Aggies.
