AMES, Iowa- Iowa State men's basketball fans have answered the call once again. Just like in football, where season ticket sales reached an all-time high in 2007, Cyclone men's basketball season ticket sales have also set a record. For the first time in school history, more than 10,000 Cyclone fans have purchased season tickets for men's hoops. As of today, a total of 10,070 season tickets have been purchased.
"This is another example of the loyal fan base at Iowa State," ISU athletics director Jamie Pollard said. "I want to thank all Cyclone fans for helping us set another standard. We look forward to seeing fantastic crowds at Hilton Coliseum as we celebrate 100 years of men's basketball throughout the season."
The buzz over second-year head coach Greg McDermott rebuilding the Cyclone program is one of the main reasons for the overwhelming support by the fans. McDermott returns three starters from last year's team and has already begun to lay a strong foundation for the future with a number of promising newcomers filling the roster. The Cyclones begin their season tonight in the American Family Insurance Cyclone Challenge, playing host to Winston-Salem State at 8 p.m.
