John Cooper Will Speak at ISU Football Clinic

AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State graduate John Cooper, who won three Big Ten Conference titles as head coach at Ohio State, a Pac-10 championship at Arizona State and five Missouri Valley Conference crowns at Tulsa, will be the keynote speaker at the 2008 ISU Football Clinic, April 3-5 at the Gateway Hotel in Ames. The Clinic will feature breakout sessions with Cyclone football coaches, selected high school and college speakers, field demonstrations and the Iowa Football Coaches Association Coach-of-the-Year award presentations.

Cooper lettered three times as a back for Iowa State between 1959-62 and was a contributor on Iowa State's magical “Dirty Thirty” team. He compiled a 192-84-6 record as a head coach between 1977 and 2000. Cooper took his teams to 14 bowl games, including Rose Bowl invitations at Arizona State and Ohio State.

The clinic will feature a live Iowa State practice and scrimmage. Speakers will include Solon High School head coach Kevin Miller, Waukee head coach Scott Carlson, Sioux City-Heelan head coach Roger Jansen and Cedar Rapids-Kennedy head coach Tim Lewis. Grand View College head coach Mike Woodley, Minneapolis-De La Salle head coach Dick Weinberger and South Garland (Texas) High School head coach Mickey Moss will also be featured speakers.
