AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State offensive tackle Aaron Brant was chosen by the NFC champion Chicago Bears Sunday in the 2007 NFL Draft. Brant, a four-year starter for the Cyclones, was the 241st player chosen overall. Brant made 46 starts at Iowa State, including the last 36 games of his career at tackle, earning honorable mention all-Big 12 honors in 2005 and 2006. A native of Kieler, Wis., Brant attended Dubuque (Iowa) Wahlert High School.
Iowa State has had an NFL draftee three straight seasons. Cornerback Ellis Hobbs will start his third season with the New England Patriots this fall after being taken in the third round of the 2005 draft. Linebacker Tim Dobbins will start his second year with the San Diego Chargers after being taken in the fifth round of last year's draft. Every Iowa State draftee of the 21st century made the roster for his respective team's NFL regular season opening game.
