The Cyclones played strong in the first match but were unable to continue that play in the afternoon session as their record this spring went to 7-1. "Minnesota is a very physical team, obviously it was great competition for us," said ISU head coach Christy Johnson. "We played very well in the morning, but I thought we started to fade in the afternoon. Part of it was fatigue, but I also didn't think we responded well to some of the adjustments Minnesota made after the break." On the day, Iowa State was led by Erin Boeve's 28 kills on 59 attempts. Diane Kieger and Jen Malcom were solid in the middle for the Cyclones, adding 21 and 17 kills, respectively. Lauren Cummings had 13 kills from her right side hitter position. Laura Cady paced the Cyclones defensively, racking up 21 digs in the two contests. Boeve had 13 digs and Amy Vos chipped in nine. ISU has now won 17 of its 26 games this spring. The Cyclones will be back in action Saturday as they host the final spring tournament of the season. More information on the tournament will be available later this week at Cyclones.com.
