ISU Among Nation?s Top-25 in Attendance

AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State fans have always been the key component of Hilton Magic. Last season was no different. Cyclone fans responded to the new direction of Iowa State men's basketball under first-year head coach Greg McDermott by helping ISU average 12,489 fans per game during the 2006-07 season. The figure ranked 25th nationally and was the fourth-best total in the Big 12 Conference.
"Our fanbase is without a doubt one of the best in the country," McDermott said. "To have that many fans rally around our team under a transition year is truly amazing. Without our fans, there would be no such thing as Hilton Magic."
ISU's attendance figure is the best total for men's basketball since joining the Big 12 Conference and the highest average since the 1994-95 season. ISU also had the highest attendance average among the four Division I state universities in Iowa: Iowa (No. 29, 12,073), UNI (No. 87, 6,298) and Drake (No. 100, 5,458).
