Johnson Update From Athletes In Action Tour

XENIA, Ohio?Iowa State sophomore forward Wesley Johnson arrived in Xenia, Ohio on Aug. 4 to practice and prepare for the Athletes in Action (AIA) 2007 Australia Tour. Johnson and his teammates will leave tomorrow (Aug. 8) for Sydney, Australia to play 6-8 games vs. NBL teams. Johnson will report back his experiences on the trip exclusively on cyclones.com.

Diary #1: We had practices the first two days so we could all get acclimated to each other. We also did a ropes course for team bonding, which I thought was a great idea. The Athletes in Action has many host families around the area and they have taken the time to introduce themselves and meet all of us. They have also provided us with some outstanding barbecue dinners!

I really like our team. It seems like we have all of the ingredients we need to be successful on our trip. We have some good shooters, strong posts and fundamentally sound guards. We scrimmaged against a local college Monday night and we won by 45 points. I was pleased with my performance. I scored 18 points and had 11 boards. We have one more scrimmage today against Wright State before we take off for Australia.

I am really looking forward to our arrival in Australia. I will report back once we get there.
