AMES, Iowa - After a morning session, lunch, team meetings and a short video session, the Cyclone football team headed out to the east practice fields for the days' second session just after 4 p.m. ISU got after it right away in the almost 90-degree heat, spending some time working on 11-on-11 run-only plays as well as first-down and 10 defensive situations.
Highlights:
After spending three segments in a skeleton drill, the Cyclones moved to a first-down and 10 from the one-yard line, with the whole field to play with. Running backs J.J. Bass and Cameron Bell provided offensive highlights as they both broke through the secondary, reaching the midfield en route to 99-yard TD runs before the plays were then blown dead by the coaching staff.
The final practice segments involved the offense running first-down and 10 plays from its own 35-yard line and second-down and 10 from its own 30.
