AMES, Iowa ? A day after the first Iowa State football practice scrimmage, the Cyclones practiced twice Thursday, in shorts (helmets, no pads) during the morning and then in shells (helmet, shoulder pads, shorts) in the afternoon. The morning session was used in part to correct mistakes cited on video of the scrimmage.
“The biggest thing we noticed was how hard the guys competed in the scrimmage,” said
Fountain said he was close to having a two-deep at tight end. The team scrimmages again on Saturday.
“I think that after Saturday's scrimmage we will have a better idea of who our top three players are. You have to be a versatile player at tight end. We are working on that and addressing individual strengths and weaknesses.”
“Coach Chizik is really good a managing a game,” Arnaud said. “You can tell that by the play-calling in different situations. Practice is going great and after months of working out, we are eager to get out and show what we can do on the field.”
