- The Cyclones have won six straight matches and look to extend their streak to seven when they play host to No. 25 Texas A&M on Saturday at Hilton Coliseum. ISU has not won seven straight since 1997 when it opened the season with eight straight wins under Jackie Nunez. The Cyclones have never opened Big 12 play 2-0.
- Iowa State defeated Baylor in the Big 12 opener for both schools on Wednesday night in Waco. Mary Bisenius and Lauren Cummings paced ISU with 13 kills while Ashley Mass had a team-high 17 digs. Diane Kieger led the Cyclones at the net with eight block assists.
- Iowa State has won two straight home Big 12 openers. The Cyclones beat No. 18 Texas in the first Big 12 home match under Christy Johnson in 2005 and defeated Baylor in a sweep last season.
- Freshman Ashley Mass is averaging 5.00 digs since moving into the starting libero position against nationally-ranked LSU. Mass had 21 digs in ISU's win over the Tigers.
- Mary Bisenius has been a pleasant surprise this season. The native of Sioux City, Iowa, has hit .260 and averaged 3.04 kills since becoming a regular in the Cyclone lineup.
- Erin Boeve became just the seventh player in school history to reach 1,000 career kills with her third game kill against UNI. It's the second straight season that ISU has had a player reach the milestone, with Katie Jessen doing it in 2006.
- ISU's .494 hitting percentage against Drake was the third best percentage in school history and the best since 1985.
- Junior middle blocker Jen Malcom is leading the Big 12 in blocks per game and entered the week tied for third in the nation (1.67) while Diane Kieger is averaging 1.40 blocks and sits in fourth.

The Aggies RKPI is 57 despite the impressive record, with only two wins coming against BCS schools (Auburn, Washington State).

The Cyclones beat the Aggies, 3-1 (30-25, 30-20, 28-30, 30-25), in the first meeting last season at Hilton Coliseum.
