AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State volleyball team looks to continue its hot play when it takes to the road to face No. 7 Texas on Wednesday evening at Gregory Gym in Austin, Texas. The Cyclones have won seven straight, including sweeps in their last four contests, and will face the Longhorns, who picked up their first win in Big 12 play Saturday with a sweep of Missouri.

- The Cyclones are riding a seven match win streak, the longest by ISU since 1997 when it opened the season with eight straight victories. The school record is nine straight victories, which was set in 1992.
- Iowa State swept No. 25 Texas A&M Saturday night for its seventh straight win and third straight over the Aggies. The Cyclones got 16 kills from Erin Boeve and 12 each from Mary Bisenius and Jen Malcom. Ashley Mass and Amy Vos both had 16 digs and Laura Cady added 11 for ISU in the win. The Cyclones held A&M to a season-low .168 hitting percentage.
- Iowa State is 2-0 in Big 12 play for the first time in school history.
- Freshman Ashley Mass was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week this week, becoming the first player in school history to win the award. She has had at least 15 digs in four of the last five matches. Mass was inserted into the starting lineup when ISU faced Northern Iowa and has helped the Cyclones to a 6-0 record since the transition.
- Mary Bisenius is averaging 3.39 kills and hitting .286 during Iowa State's win streak. The Sioux City native has been even more impressive in the last five matches, averaging 3.75 kills and hitting .348.
- Erin Boeve needs just two solo blocks to move into a tie for ninth all-time at ISU. Boeve, who has 68 in her career and looks to join Merry Happe (1985-87), is the school record holder with 395 block assists.
- ISU has held seven straight opponents to a hitting percentage under .200. Additionally, three straight Big 12 opponents, dating back to last year, have been held under .200.
- The Cyclones are first in the Big 12 in blocks with 3.53 per game.
- Bisenius and Boeve are tied for seventh in the Big 12 with 4.17 kills per game in league matches while Mass leads the league with 5.50 digs. Kaylee Manns also leads the league with 15.67 assists.
A Closer Look At Texas (5-3, 1-1 Big 12)
- The Longhorns, ranked seventh in the nation, are coming off an impressive 3-0 (30-22, 30-24, 30-24) win over Missouri on Saturday night in Austin.
- Against Missouri, the Longhorns out blocked the Tigers, 10.5 to 6, and used 21 kills from Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week Juliann Faucette. Faucette hit .529 and added 11 digs in the win. Destinee Hooker had 17 kills and Lauren Paolini and Brandy Magee added 10 each for Texas, which hit .384 as a team.
- The Longhorns, whose losses have come to Nebraska and Penn State (twice), are playing without last year's Big 12 Freshman of the Year, Ashley Engle, who has not played since the second match of the season due to injury.
- Texas ranks third in the league with a .290 hitting percentage but is second to last in the league in defense, allowing opponents to hit .211. The Horns are fourth in blocks at 2.76.
- The Longhorns are paced by sophomore Destinee Hooker and freshman Juliann Faucette, who are averaging 4.79 and 4.71 kills per game, respectively. Senior Michelle Moriarty leads the Texas' offensive attack with 11.81 assists per game and Alyson Jennings averages a team-best 3.30 digs.
- The Longhorns have defeated Iowa State the last three times the teams have met and lead the all-time series 21-2. ISU head coach Christy Johnson's first Big 12 win came against a nationally ranked Texas squad on Sept. 17, 2005.
