Iowa State

Roy Griak Invitational

09.29.2007 | Cross Country
"The men had a good opener," Iowa State cross country coach Corey Ihmels said. "We beat a lot of good teams. Hilary Boar ran a strong race and Uhl was his steady self. We could have finished even hire but Guor Majak struggled with a side stich during the race. We were fifth last year and third this year so we are going in the right direction."
Ihmels had particular praise for the Cyclone women's team.
"I was even more happy about the women's team," Ihmels said. "Lisa Koll and Grace Kemmey ran great races. We beat several Big 12 teams today and I think that should give our team confidence when they go to the Big 12 meet."
Uhl, a junior running for the first time this season, was the top finisher for the men, placing fourth overall with a time of 24:33. Lisa Koll, also making her season debut on Saturday, was the women's top runner with an effort of 21:09, earning her second place, falling just short of the title behind Emily Harrison of
Newcomers Kemmey and Bor made their presence felt at the invite in the women's and men's races, respectively. Kemmey crossed the finish line in third, just behind teammate Koll with a time of 21:17.50. Bor earned 12th-place with an effort of 24:50.20.
