AMES, Iowa - The weather was cold, but the reception was warm as the Iowa State volleyball team returned from Austin, Texas where it capped a remarkable NCAA Tournament run last night in the NCAA Regional Final. It was the best tournament finish in the history of the program.
The Cyclones were greeted at the Lied Recreational Center by the pep band, cheer squad and fans that braved the cold to recognize the achievements of the team.

Iowa State's tournament run started on Dec. 5 with a win over intrastate rival and continued the following day with a stunning upset of sixth-seeded Minnesota on its home floor to advance to the school's second-straight Sweet 16 appearance. ISU followed the victory over the Gophers with another upset Friday, this time disposing of No. 7 Oregon, 3-2, after dropping the first two sets of the match.
The last unseeded team standing, ISU fell 3-1 at No. 3 Texas on Saturday night to end its magical run.
The Cyclones will return all but three players from this year's team, including six starters.
