AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State's postseason run to the Elite Eight impressed AVCA pollsters enough that the previously unranked Cyclones jumped to No. 12 in the final coaches poll of the season. It is the highest ranking in school history, surpassing ISU's final ranking of 17th in 2007.
The Cyclones, who finished the season 22-13, were also ranked 11th in the final Molten/Volleyball Women's College Top 20 Media Poll.
Iowa State received national recognition after it bounced Minnesota, the sixth seed in the tournament, on its home floor to advance to the Sweet 16 for the second season in a row. The Cyclones then stunned seventh-seeded Oregon to advance to the school's first-ever NCAA Regional Final.
The Cyclones return all but three players from the 2008 team, including All-Americans Kaylee Manns (second team), Ashley Mass (third team) and Victoria Henson (honorable mention).
