AMES, Iowa - Iowa State's Erin Boeve has been recognized by Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) as a Stellar Spiker Honorable Mention selection, marking the third time in her career she has been honored by the website.
Boeve, a senior middle blocker, earned all-Big 12 first-team honors this year and was a Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week selection once while leading Iowa State to an unprecedented NCAA Regional Semifinal appearance. She averaged 3.52 kills per game and finished fifth in the league with 1.32 blocks per game. Her 1.61 blocks per game in Big 12 matches led the league. Boeve also posted a career-high 257 digs on the season and was the only middle blocker in the Big 12 to play all the way around the court. She had a team-high 35 service aces, including a school-record six in Iowa State's three-game sweep of Colorado.
The Steen, Minn., native posted 26 matches with double-digit kills and nine double-doubles on the year. She also recorded two of the school's four triple-doubles this season.
Boeve finished her career as the most heralded player in school history, having collected all-Big 12 honors three times and honorable mention All-American honors once. One of the most dominant middle blockers in the conference during her career, she was Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2006 and holds the ISU career mark with 503 block assists, which also ranks fifth in league history. Her 1,334 kills is third at Iowa State and she ranks as the fifth most efficient hitter in school history with a .241 hitting percentage.
