IRVING, Texas -- A trio of Iowa State basketball players earned all-Big 12 recognition, announced today by the league office. Senior Jiri Hubalek was voted third-team all-Big 12, sophomore Wesley Johnson earned honorable mention honors and senior Rahshon Clark was named to the all-defensive team.
A native of Prague, Czech Republic, Hubalek led ISU in scoring (12.8) and rebounding (7.5) in his senior campaign. Hubalek recorded a team-high three double-doubles and his 7.5 rebounding average ranks sixth in the Big 12. Johnson, who hails from Corsicana, Texas, tallied a team-high seven 20-point games and is averaging 12.5 ppg. Johnson led ISU in 3-pointers with 46, ranking 19th on ISU's single-season 3-pointers made chart.
Clark, a native of Queens, N.Y., was ISU's designated defensive stopper the last two seasons. Clark ranks sixth in career blocks (107) and 10th in career steals (143) on ISU's all-time charts. He paced ISU with 34 blocks this year, which ranks 11th in the Big 12 and ties for 15th on the school's single-season chart.
In other postseason awards, Hubalek was named to the all-underrated team and Bryan Petersen, a junior guard from Clinton, Iowa, was named to the all-newcomer team by the Kansas City Star.
