AMES, Iowa ? The Iowa State volleyball team went undefeated Saturday at the UNI Spring Tournament, sweeping the host Panthers, Drake and Iowa at West Gym in Cedar Falls.
“I was thrilled with how we played on Saturday,” said ISU head coach Christy Johnson. “Besides getting a little fatigued at the end of the day, I thought every aspect of our game was really good. Our hitters have been working really hard on making good attack decisions and mixing up their shots, and everyone did a great job of that. Our defensive players passed very well on the day and I thought our setters did an excellent job of getting a lot of one-on-ones for the hitters. Overall just a great day for our team.”
The Cyclones were led offensively by Rachel Williams and Jen Malcom, who finished with 32 and 30 kills, respectively, in the three matches. Diane Kieger had 20 kills and Mary Bisenius added 18 on the day. Kaylee Manns led with seven aces for the Cyclones.
The Cyclones will be back in action Saturday as they play host to Minnesota, Creighton and Northern Iowa at Forker Gym. Play will begin at 10 a.m. with ISU facing the Gophers.
